In consideration of being allowed to volunteer for the National Folk Festival and related events, including preparation and breakdown (collectively, the “Event”), I, for myself and on behalf of my successors, heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby:
Voluntarily RELEASE and HOLD HARMLESS the City of Jackson, the Community Foundation for Mississippi, the National Council for the Traditional Arts, Jackson Redevelopment Authority, Downtown Jackson Partners, Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce, Mississippi Department of Archives & History, Congress Street Investors, LLC, United Way of the Capital Area, Inc., Volunteer Mississippi and all Event sponsors, partners, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected to my participation as a volunteer, including without limitation, claims for personal injury, property damage, illness, or death, whether arising from the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise, to the fullest extent, as permitted by the laws of the State of Mississippi. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising out of or in connection with my acts or omissions during the Event.
I understand that volunteering at the Event may involve risks of injury, illness, or death, including but not limited to: from crowds, weather, equipment, physical exertion, or activities near vehicles and machinery. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of others.
I understand and agree that I am volunteering and not an employee of any Released Party and am not entitled to compensation, workers’ compensation benefits, or insurance coverage except as otherwise provided by law. I understand the positions and duties that I will perform.
I understand that special photographers and videographers have been hired by the Event and I consent to the use of my likeness, image, voice, or appearance as may be captured by photographs or video in connection with the Event, for use in future promotional and archival materials. I agree that my presence at the event is my permission for such use by the nonprofit organizers and agree to such without compensation or further permission.
I agree this waiver shall apply to all volunteer-related activities from October 15, 2026, through November 30, 2026, or at any time I am engaged in activities at the direction or on behalf of the Event or its organizers.
[FOR MINORS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE] As parent or legal guardian of the above-named minor, I consent to their participation and agree on behalf of myself and the minor to all terms of this Agreement, including the release, waiver, assumption of risk, and indemnification provisions.
